Updated March 2, 2010: After viewing at least 10 venues (!) and debating pros and cons, we've finally decided on... The Berkeley Church!
The Berkeley is an old church that has been converted into an event venue with a unique vibe. It is suitable for both a wedding ceremony and reception. Just the sort of thing that we were looking for. The staff are very attentive and allow couples to add lots of personal touches.
So where is it? On Queen Street East, between Sherbourne and Parliament. So that's east of Yonge Street (and the Eaton Centre) and west of the Don Valley Parkway.

The closest subway station is Queen. You can walk from there (about 15 minutes), take the famous Queen streetcar (for about $3), or take any one of a thousand taxis patrolling the area.

ReplyDeleteCongrats again! Have you checked out the Arcadian Court 8th floor in the Simpsons tower of the Bay. My sis in law is having her ceremony & reception there in a couple of weeks. Not sure how pricey but so far she's been very happy with everything. I went last week to check it out & it is beautiful. Val is hoping to get some pics of the bridal party maybe in some odd/different places like the furniture floor of the dept store directly below.
If you really wanted to be cheeky (cheesey) or sentimental you could go back to Erindale. The theatre I'm sure could hold up quite a few for a stand up reception. (becoming very popular now instead of the traditional sit down) Would be a great way to "shmooze".

What about the Eglinton Grand? I mean really, what is a better place for a couple like yourselves but an old movie theatre? Its a great reception place - completely converted. www.eglintongrand.com
Also there is the Fox theatre which would be great for the ceremony probably not the reception.
There is also the George Brown House down on baldwin which is so cute and adorable. google this one you will get alot of info on it.
